Angomcha Bimol Akoijam had denied the allegations, stating that they had been made to tarnish his reputation.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University on Friday dismissed professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam who was accused of sexual harassment by 11 students, ANI reported.
Akoijam is a Congress Lok Sabha MP from Manipur.
The complaints of sexual harassment against Akoijam had been submitted to the university’s internal committee four months ago, The Times of India reported.
Akoijam, who lives on campus, has been accused of inviting students to his residence for gatherings and making sexual advances, the newspaper reported. Some complainants also alleged that he made allegedly lewd and inappropriate comments during classes and viva examinations, including demands for sexual acts in exchange for marks.
Akoijam had denied the allegations, accusing what he described as “racist schemers” attempting to tarnish his reputation with unverified claims and lies, India Today reported.
The university said on Friday that the allegations against Akoijam had been investigated by the internal committee. Based on the panel’s findings, the professor at the Centre for the Study of Social Systems was dismissed from service with immediate effect.
