Harlem Day & Maxwell — HARLEM WEEK’s Big Finish

HARLEM WEEK 2026 is set for its final weekend, with two signature events expected to bring thousands of people uptown.

On Sunday, Aug. 16, HARLEM DAY, the largest and final day of HARLEM WEEK, will feature three stages of entertainment, the Harlem Health Village, Harlem Broadway Row and performances from Broadway productions, as well as local, national and international artists.

Food, arts and crafts, music, jewelry, hat, sculpture and corporate exhibitors, along with games and other activities, will return for the celebration.

The popular Sundae Sermon will feature a special appearance by ADEVA, along with a performance by Kwame and the Afribembe CARNIVAL, presented by the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute.

HARLEM DAY will also celebrate Grammy Award-winning R&B and soul singer-songwriter Maxwell and the 30th anniversary of his seminal 1996 double-platinum debut album, Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite.

Sunday’s event will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. on West 135th Street, from St. Nicholas Avenue to Fifth Avenue.

On Saturday, “Summer in the City,” HARLEM WEEK’s second-largest day of events, offered a full day of activities, including performances by local, national and international artists; the highly anticipated HARLEM WEEK Fashion Shows; health testing stations; and hundreds of vendors featuring food, arts and crafts, music, jewelry, hats, sculptures, corporate exhibits and games.

At the conclusion of “Summer in the City,” festivalgoers enjoyed a free outdoor screening of the 2003 documentary Afro-Punk at 7:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Park, located at St. Nicholas Avenue and 135th Street.
