Four men wanted after BDF corporal is beaten and loses teeth

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 34 year old Belize Defence Force corporal of Maskall Village has reported being beaten by four men, losing his front teeth in the attack.

According to the report, the corporal was socializing with his brother on an unnamed street in the village around 10:30pm on Sunday, August 23, when two men approached and began speaking with his brother.

He then noticed a man riding a bicycle in the distance and saw one of the two run toward him holding a machete. The corporal ran behind him, grabbed his hand and forcibly took the machete away.

The cyclist, whom he recognised as a friend, turned and rode off.

An argument followed for about fifteen minutes before four more men arrived from a northerly direction.

The corporal says one of them confronted him. He handed over the machete as requested. Moments later he was punched on the right side of his head, and he and one of the men fell to the ground, where he says all four punched and kicked him.

When he got up, his front teeth were missing.

His injuries were certified as grievous wounding at the Price Barracks Medical Facility. Four men are wanted.
