By Zoila Palma: The Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project (CRESAP), implemented by the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries (MAFSNGI)and the Ministry of Economic Transformation (MET), officially handed over field and office equipment to the Department of the Environment (DOE) on August 7, 2026.
CRESAP explained that the equipment will strengthen the Department’s capacity to carry out environmental screening, evaluation, monitoring, and compliance verification of development activities requiring environmental clearance, including subprojects financed under the CRESAP Matching Grant Program.
This support will enhance the Department’s ability to effectively fulfill its regulatory responsibilities while promoting environmentally sustainable agricultural development.
Present at the handover were Angeles Itzab, Deputy Director of the Belize Social Investment Fund; Jahnina Reyes, Senior Procurement Officer, CRESAP Project; and staff of the Department of the Environment.
