Cassper Says SAMA32 Surpassed Last Year’s Views In Just 10 Hours. South African hip-hop heavyweight Cassper Nyovest has celebrated what he believes was a major digital victory for the 32nd South African Music Awards, claiming SAMA32 generated more streaming and social media attention in just 10 hours than last year’s ceremony accumulated over eight months.

The rapper, who co-hosted this year’s awards alongside Zanele Potelwa, shared the bold claim on X on Monday, thanking viewers for keeping the ceremony alive online through comments, clips and social media posts.
“I believe in making an impact cause women lie, men lie, but numbers don’t,” Cassper wrote. “As far as streaming & impact, we surpassed last year’s SAMA views over 8 months in just 10 hours. That is a crazy stat on its own. Thank you so much for tuning in, commenting, clipping and posting. #SAMA32.”
The statement comes shortly after the SAMA32 “Homecoming Edition” took place at Sun City Superbowl on Saturday, 15 August. For Cassper, the night represented more than another high-profile television appearance. It also marked a return to the SAMAs stage after years of tension between the rapper and the awards organisation.
Cassper had previously opened up about the long-running differences, which he said stretched back nearly a decade. His decision to take on the hosting duties therefore carried an added layer of significance as he stepped into the spotlight alongside Potelwa.
He was not content with remaining behind the microphone either. The rapper also delivered a performance with Lordkez, adding another energetic moment to a night filled with major performances, winners and viral conversations.
His performance and hosting received largely favourable reactions, with viewers praising his charisma and ability to connect with the audience. Although the ceremony had a few early timing hiccups, Cassper appeared increasingly comfortable as the night progressed, mixing humour with his unmistakable personality.
SAMA32 produced several talking points beyond the hosting stage. Gospel star HLE enjoyed a particularly successful evening after taking home Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year, while maskandi and traditional music also featured prominently among the night’s winners.
Social media had its own highlights, with an on-stage kiss involving Anele Zondo and L-Tido becoming one of the ceremony’s most widely discussed moments. At the same time, some viewers pointed to empty seats inside the venue, creating another talking point around the event.
For Cassper, however, the biggest story appears to be the numbers generated online.
His post places the spotlight firmly on measurable digital reach, suggesting that audience engagement rather than individual opinions should be the ultimate measure of an event’s impact. While the specific comparison between 10 hours of SAMA32 activity and eight months of last year’s views remains a claim made by Cassper, it underlines his belief that this year’s ceremony created an unusually strong online reaction.
The rapper’s message also fits neatly with the competitive, numbers-focused approach that has long characterised his career. By thanking fans for watching, commenting, clipping and sharing, he acknowledged the audience while simultaneously highlighting the scale of the attention surrounding the awards.
With SAMA32 continuing to generate conversation after the final trophy was handed out, Cassper appears more than satisfied with the role he played in driving that momentum.
For an artist known for making bold statements and backing himself, his latest post is unmistakably on brand: celebrate the achievement, thank the supporters and, above all, let the numbers do the talking.
