By Zoila Palma: The Belize Sports Summit 2026 is officially underway at the Belize City Civic Center.
The first ever National Sports Summit is being held under the theme, “Building Belize Through Sport.” The event brings together leaders, athletes, coaches, and stakeholders to discuss the future of sports in Belize.
Remarks were delivered by Prime Minister John Briceño, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler, among other speakers, as the Summit opened with a strong call for collaboration and action.
In addition, Belizean-American Olympian, international athlete, and advocate Marion Jones shared her journey and words of encouragement for athletes and those working to develop sports in Belize.
The conversation continues with panel discussions and special sessions exploring the state of sports in Belize and youth engagement.
