Armed men tie up Northern Fisherman security guard during early-morning burglary

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating an aggravated burglary at the Northern Fisherman Cooperative in Belize City where a security guard was allegedly held at gunpoint and tied up by a group of masked men early Saturday morning.

According to police, a security guard reported that at around 2:00 a.m. on August 15, he was performing security duties at Northern Fisheries when approximately four masked men, each reportedly armed with a firearm, approached him.

The gunmen allegedly pointed their weapons at him and ordered him not to move before tying him up and placing him on the ground.

The guard told investigators that about 20 minutes later, he heard the intruders say they had found a chest inside one of the offices. He then reportedly heard what sounded like a metal object being dragged from the building before hearing a vehicle speed away.

Police visited and processed the scene and observed surveillance cameras mounted around the building. Investigators are reportedly still working to determine exactly what was stolen.

No arrests have been reported and the investigation continues.
