By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 23 year old Belize City baker was shot dead early Sunday morning, with his body discovered hours after the shooting.
Police received information around 7am that a body had been found in a yard on Arlington Drive, near a green apartment building.
The man has been identified as Christopher Smith Jr., 23, of Linda Vista Street.
Initial investigations indicate that residents in the area heard several gunshots shortly after 1am. Smith was found six hours later lying motionless on his back in the yard of a residence on McKenzie Lane.
Police observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the left side of his head and another to his left shoulder.
Four expended 9mm casings were recovered from the scene.
His body was identified by his father, Christopher Smith Sr., a police officer.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting continue.
