18-year-old mechanic charged with handling stolen motorcycle engine

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An 18-year-old Belize City mechanic has been charged with handling stolen goods after police allegedly found him in possession of a motorcycle engine reported stolen from another man.

Leone Emmanuel Alexander Rowland, of Pelican Street, appeared in court on a charge of handling stolen goods in relation to an engine from a Lifan motorcycle belonging to a 21-year-old man.

Rowland pleaded not guilty, telling the court that he did not know the engine was stolen and claiming that another man had approached him to sell it.

There was no objection to bail, and Rowland was granted bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety of the same amount, which he was able to meet.

According to the report, the complainant told police that he had parked his black motorcycle, valued at $4,500, outside a friend’s residence near Elston Kerr Street and the George Price Highway. When he later returned, the motorcycle was missing.

Police launched an investigation, which eventually led to Rowland being arrested and charged in connection with the stolen motorcycle engine.

Rowland, who reportedly turned 18 in May, is said to have no previous charges.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 27, 2026.
